Battle for Trees Picnic at the Community Tree Nursery

Last Saturday, members of Battle for Trees gathered at our Community Tree Nursery for a summer picnic and what a day it was! The sun was shining and the countryside setting made the perfect backdrop for a relaxed afternoon of learning and fun.

We had a great turnout of members and friends, all coming together to celebrate our shared love of trees. Alongside picnics on the grass and plenty of chatter, we enjoyed a series of demonstrations that added something extra to the day.

  • Composting Made Simple a practical session on how to turn garden and kitchen waste into rich compost, helping our trees (and gardens) thrive.
  • Exploring the Night Skies even in daylight, this session gave us fresh insight into the wonders of our night skies and how dark skies link to healthy ecosystems.
  • Building a Bee Hotel  a hands-on demonstration showing how easy it is to create a safe space for pollinators in our own gardens.

It was inspiring to see so many people get involved, ask questions, and even start planning new projects to take home. Children especially loved the bee hotel demonstration and some even went away ready to make their own.

The combination of good weather, good company, and useful demonstrations made it a really special day. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, brought food, and joined in with enthusiasm. We’re already looking forward to the next gathering at the nursery!
