Protecting & Growing Green Community Spaces

Dear BfT Members,

Happy New Year!  As we step into 2025, we reflect on our achievements, celebrate our community, and look forward to another year of growth and impact. We are so excited to turn our opportunities and aspirations into reality, nurturing community connections and making 2025 a year of transformative progress.

Looking Back on 2024

  • Tree Planting Success – Thanks to your support, we planted and helped plant around 1000 trees in Battle!
  • Community Events – We hosted several tree meet ups in key Battle locations and promoted key tree related events.
  • Advocacy & Awareness – Our efforts helped protect green spaces and educate our community through social media and events.

It’s been great working alongside the Mayor of Battle, Andrew Barton, who currently holds position as Battle Tree Warden. Andrew recently secured funding for multiple community orchards, notably Coronation Gardens Orchard and North Trade Road Recreation Ground Clock Orchard. It would be great to find a group of dedicated residents interested in orchard stewardship, supporting the trees to reach full maturity and eventually provide free fruit for local people.

‘Many people turned out to help us plant these Orchards. I am slowly developing the Battle Tree Warden Group so we can appoint tree champions all over the parish of Battle’ Andrew Barton

If you would like to be involved please join the Facebook groups, Battle Tree Warden and Friends of Coronation Garden Orchard.

Plans for 2025

  • More Tree Planting Drives – Join us in greening our local parks and streets!
  • Educational Workshops – Learn about tree care, biodiversity, and sustainable living.
  • Community Engagement – Volunteer with us! We would love support with our new Community Nursery so we can plant and grow more strong and healthy trees for Battle and beyond.
